Remembering our Masajid

Assalaamu alaykum and Jummah Mubarak.

It’s Friday today, a day which I normally embrace with a great deal of enthusiasm.

Sadly today I almost met it with indifference. It could be any other day. That’s because right now up and down the country our masajid are closed because of the global Coronavirus pandemic. I know it is with good reason that they have chosen to close their doors. It is to protect our loved ones, our most vulnerable. And yet I can’t help but feel sad.

As usual however the remedy for this sadness comes from my mother. Yesterday she sent out a message reminding everyone not to forget our masajid now. Though we might not be able to visit them in person, we can still support them with our donations. Many of them rely on Friday donations to survive and to pay our Imams. So on this day, we might not be able to pray in congregation together, but we can certainly come together to make sure our Imams are looked after and that our masajid are still there for us after this virus is gone.

Please, if you are in a position to do so, donate to your local masjid.
